In this blog you can read about all the requirements and actions you need to take to get your Working Holiday Visa for Australia. Lets get started!

Your Working Holiday Visa

Australia one of the most popular destinations for backpackers, also one of the few that has some strict rules before you get your visa and get accepted to enter the country.  Here a little guide to help you trough this process, because we all know how stressful and confusing applying for visas can be.

Where to start?

Make sure you start with this a couple of months in advance, just to make sure everything will be arranged and accepted before you fly off to your big adventure.

Let’s start with some things you need to have sorted before you can apply. Make sure your passport is still valid 3 months after you enter Australia, if it’s not it’s better to apply for a new one. Also look up if you can apply for a working holiday visa they with your age, they have a restriction on ages between 18 and 30, only if you are Canadian, French or Irish it’s 35.

How much is an Australian working holiday visa?
Make sure you have enough money to pay for your visa, as they will ask you to make a payment right away, (and yes, even if you don’t know if your going to be accepted) the amount for that will be $485 AUD, that’s like €300.

Australia working holiday visa where to apply?

You can apply easily on the australian government website of home affairs. You shouldn’t trust any other sites that say you can apply for a working holiday visa there. From my experience you pay way more money then you normally would.
click here to proceed to the official website

How to apply?

So now your on the Australian government Department of Home Affairs website, just click on the button apply and they will ask you to create an immi account, it will show itself what you need to fill in an how.  If you created an immi account you can start applying, they will ask you a bunch of questions about your previous visits to other countries, why you want to visit Australia, how long you are planning to visit and other things that can depend on which country your from. Just answer the questions in all honesty.

After filling in all those questions you will come to the stage that they ask you to add files, and with that they mean you passport, and a shot of your bank account with prove that you have $5000 AUD. On your bank account that will be around the €3000/4000 euro.  If you did an health check by a certified doctor thats approved by the Australian government to do the health check and you have an certification of this, add id to the file as well. If you don’t have this certification that’s okay, most of the time they won’t ask you to do the checkup only if you’ve been to Africa or Asia and a few more country’s for longer then 3 months.

!!! Important for travelers from any part of mainland China, as of 1 February 2020regardless of nationality, Australia will  deny entry to anyone who travels trough or from mainland China because of the coronavirus. Even if you already arranged and payed for your visa they will be cancelled. !!!

Now the waiting begins

If you added every file you need to add and send it all forward, they will start processing your request this will take up to 11 days and a maximum of 39 days, some people are lucky and will have an answer in a day or even in a few minutes. Just be patient and hope for the best.

Good things to know

There are some working restrictions with the working holiday visa, as you can not work longer than 6 months for one employer , and you can not study longer than 4 months maximum. You can extend your stay with a second year visa, the only thing you need to do for that is 3 months of farm work, in an official associated farm. After this you can apply again, and they will accept you or deny. I hope i helped you trough all this confusing stuff and made it a little bit easier.

We hope you had all the useful information you where looking for in this blog to get your Australian Working Holliday Visa.

If your accepted i wish you the best time in this beautiful country!
Have fun!
